The Round Pool

At the intersections of both the star-shaped systems of avenues east and west of the Great Parterre is a circular space or rondeau with a Naiad Fountain at its centre. As nymphs of springs and streams, naiads were followers of Neptune. Both groups of statues were executed by Beyer; the statue in the Round Pool on the Meidling side represents a naiad playing with a waterbird.
